2015 The Vineyardist Heritage Ridge
The 2015 Heritage Ridge is made entirely from estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon grapes located in the Diamond Mountain AVA at elevations of 1,300 feet. Due to drought conditions and an unseasonably cool spring that resulted in a protracted bloom, the 2015 grape yields were miniscule. The Heritage Ridge grapes were harvested at an incredibly low yield of 1/2 ton per acre and barrel aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak. The result is perhaps the finest Heritage Ridge yet produced. The aromatic landscape is immense with Asian infused candied black raspberries, black plums, ultra-ripe strawberries, tree bark and licorice. Hints of Bosch pear skin, black cardamom, and new kid gloves add complexity to this heavenly array of aromas. Flavors expressing crème de cassis, mountain berries, ripe black currants, and ripe strawberries explode with freshness and finesse. The tannins are abundant but extremely rounded for Diamond Mountain demonstrating balance and grace. While delicious now, the 2015 Heritage Ridge will age effortlessly for two plus decades.
