Our Vineyards

Rock Garden- (1.6 acres) (clones 7 & 337) (3x5 spacing)—Rock garden was planted in 2003 on a veritable rock pile at 900 feet above sea level. Many prayers were offered in hopes the young vines would survive on this rocky precipice. The block is well exposed on a narrow ridge running east to west several hundred feet above a seasonal creek that defines our southern property line. Soils are shallow at 9-18 inches above a mixed volcanic rock base. Yields are low at 1-1 1/2 tons per acre. The block produces berries showing strong mineral and nuanced black fruit flavors.
Trespass Hill- (1.1 acres) (clone 33) (3x5 spacing)—Trespass Hill is a small block planted in 2008 on a steep 30% slope behind the estate’s main residence at 1000 feet above sea level. Exposures are north to south. It is a replant of an encroaching vineyard that a neighbor mistakenly planted on estate property. Yields are 2 tons per acre. This block was dry-farmed during the 2012 growing season. The small, intensely flavored berries from Trespass produce complex red fruit flavors.
