Each block has different root stocks to match its particular soil characteristics and each is planted to different Cabernet clones that, when blended, create the rich and complex flavors of The Vineyardist.
     During the summer, the Estate's daytime temperature remains slightly cooler than the Valley floor.  Evenings are slightly warmer due to ocean breezes approaching from the Chalk Hill gap.  The resulting "banana belt" effect creates a microclimate that allows Cabernet grapes to mature evenly.  Our growing season begins with bud break in late March, followed by bloom in early June and a gradual maturation until late October or early November when harvest occurs.
     We are committed to serving as stewards of the historic Vineyardist land and steadfastly aspire to create a world-class wine estate that will endure for generations.
